Show of Faith

Barasoain Weekly Reflection for 14 – 20 January 2018

“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you.”

– Isaiah 43:2

A magician in a circus asked his audience: “Do you trust me that I can saw a person in half and that person will get out alive unscathed?” The audience replied “Yes!” “Then I shall ask for volunteers from the audience!” Suddenly, the audience hall went quiet.

One of our problems in our faith is shown in the situation above. Our actions may not always speak with the way our words are. We may proclaim that we trust and faithfully believe in God only to fall silent when asked to show it. We may not need to saw ourselves in half to show our faith but even in simple ways we come short of it.

St. Peter also had this problem when Jesus Christ asked Him to walk on water. He was able to walk on the water in the beginning but ultimately fell when He doubted Christ. Our faith does really come short when it is needed more.

So how we will increase our faith to God? But always reading His Word, reflecting on the things that He has shown His goodness to you and to relive the moments that you have seen God’s power do extraordinary things for you and others. The list is non exhausting but is a good start.

This week, let us ask God for to strengthen our faith especially on this new year that has recently began. We will need it this year – always.

Faith is the strength to walk in when others are running out.
