New Beginnings, New Hope

Barasoain Weekly Reflection for 29 October – 4 November 2017

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Jeremiah 29:11

The sun rose at that day. Everything went on to their normal routine. It was just an ordinary day then, but years later that day will be celebrated like no other. No one thought how important that day will be, as it began another chapter in history.

Typically we tend to take things for granted unless it is valuable, important or signifies something new. In the example above, it ushered a new beginning.

Jesus Christ’s death ended the power of sin over humankind which brought hardship and death. His death, however, also began a new chapter in which, God’s grace of eternal life came down to Earth waiting for anyone to accept it. His resurrection is a symbol of that gift – a new life, new hope, new beginning. Now, believers have a reason to celebrate – the end of sin and the beginning of the light of eternal life that God has given through His son Jesus Christ.

Years ago, this date started a new chapter in my life. What life changing moment do you have in which you will tell “Thanks be to God!”

New beginnings refreshes us in faith
