Pitch Black

Barasoain Weekly Reflection for 7 – 13 May 2017

“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

Psalm 119:105

It was late evening mid-April this year when I was returning to Laoag City from my official transaction somewhere when I noticed that while it was on its way in the highway, the sea is pitch black and since there were a few nearby houses, everything is just dark.

This reminds me of our lives here on this planet. We are all running the race of life but unlike the bus, we do not know where the road will bring us next and everything is pitch black. The very darkness represents uncertainty which also brings fear and doubt.

How dark the road of life maybe is also matched by the light of God that shines on us. His word is the light in the sea of darkness, guiding us on the road of life. Our fear and doubt can now be replaced with faith and trust that no matter how dark life will be, God and His word will stand out guiding us on our path.

Light shines the brightest when darkness is at its height.
