Barasoain Weekly Reflection for 9 – 15 April 2017
“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,”
1 Peter 3:18
There are times in our lives where we will experience ridicule and disgust from others for some reason. There will be times that what they will throw against us will be true, or just pure speculations.
Jesus Christ suffered the same fate. He was ridiculed, denied and was crucified. What is surprising was that He does not deserve all of this, yet He suffered so that us, the real sinners, will be restored to God and receive salvation.
I can just imagine the pain He has endured during those times from His arrest until His death. The suffering He had experienced is a manifestation of God’s love for us, that by sending His only Son to suffer and die in our place we may be able to be called the “Children of God.”
This Holy Week, may we reflect the price of our sins and the price that God has paid for us to be saved.
Jesus’s cross is a testament of our sinfulness and His love for us.
