Barasoain Weekly Reflection for 19 – 25 February 2017
“Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
“Nobody’s perfect.” A phrase commonly used by people as an excuse for committing a mistake. We may always hear it and some of us are irritated when others use it to get away of what they have done. It may seem ubiquitous but the truth remains: We are not perfect.
The imperfect nature of us makes us vulnerable to sins which distance us from God. It is one of our weaknesses as human beings that cannot be fixed.
That is why God has sent His only Son to redeem us from our sins. He came to this world and preached the good news to everyone so that all will receive the grace of salvation from Him. Understanding that there is a cost to save us, He willingly came down, became a man, died on the cross then rose again to show us the gift of eternal life for those who believe in Him.
We human, may not be perfect, nobody will. But the perfect God filled the gap for us to receive the grace of salvation. Will you accept it?
God loves us not because He does but rather of what He is.
