Barasoain Weekly Reflection for 25 – 31 December 2016
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:17
A friend of mine is disappointed with what many carolers are doing after the Christmas Day. He said that during the Misa de Gallo (dawn mass) and Christmas Day, they exhaust all of their Christmas songs and then revert to the regular repertoire by 26. He pointed out that Christmas is just beginning by 25, not ending on it.
Most of us think that Christmas Day ends at the end of December 25. Also, there are also some of us who think that the New Year ends in January 1. We are often focused on the formal festivities more than the actual duration of a celebration.
Christmas Day is just the beginning of God’s plan for salvation. just as New Year’s Day is the beginning of a new year. This week, let us thank God for another Christmas season that has just begun, and to renew and prepare us for the upcoming new year.
The beginning is the most important part of something.
