Barasoain Weekly Reflection for 7 – 13 August 2016
“Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.”
I have come across a website this evening telling he 10 reasons why a person needs 8 hugs per day. It listed reasons from simple elevation of mood to physiological improvements such as strengthening of the immune system and even suggesting that it improves self esteem.
No wonder why humans needs hugs – it bring about the feeling of safety and belongingness rolled into one. We feel comfortable when we are hugged, as it gives us what we need in our emotional side.
We, as community of Christians, are important to show love to one another. Every one of us faces challenges in our lives that bogs us down and stresses us to the breaking point. It is tempting to give up when we face challenges alone but with others in our side, we are motivated to move, to continue and are inspired. The sense of being uplifted by others allows us to continue our struggle despite the difficulty we face. A new breath of life refreshes us through their encouragement.
This week, let us give thanks to God for the sense of belongingness He has shown us through His community of believers. Let us give hugs to them, especially to those who needs God the most, in the same way Jesus Christ would have hugged and uplifted them.
The presence of everyone makes the greatest difference in life.
