Barasoain Weekly Reflection for 24 – 30 July 2016

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

Romans 12:12

The Romans may be seen as one of the bad guys in the story of Passion of Christ, but they also paved the way for Jesus Christ’s ministry to become possible even outside the borders of Israel.

Before the Romans, people are restricted in their movement outside of their kingdoms as these are always at war. When the Romans came, the barriers between these kingdoms fell as they have been united under a single flag. With the union of these kingdoms in a single empire, so it became possible for early missionaries to preach outside Israel.

The birth of Christ shows how God is the master of time. He always wait for right time to answer our prayers and to show His power to us. We may have prayers that we thought have been overlooked but suddenly we realize how our prayers have been answered in a way we do not expect yet in a better way. Our time is not the same as His own but we can expect that He will answer it, in his own time.

This week, let us ask God for patience to wait for His time and faith to trust Him always.

Patience is a virtue.
