Nothing wrong to love… nothing wrong to think

heart-mindBarasoain Weekly Reflection for 17 – 23 April 2016

“Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained, But happy is he who keeps the law.”

Proverbs 29:18

I came across an amusing photo from Facebook wherein a certain guy asked for a love advice in the Facebook page of a big TV channel in the Philippines. This guy asked what to do if you found out that your former boyfriend/girlfriend loves somebody new. The administrator of the page replied in jest: “There is nothing wrong to love, but there is also nothing wrong to think.”

God gave us a heart not just to live, but also to feel love. But He also put our minds above our heart to be able to control it. An uncontrollable heart is as dangerous as an unstable mind.

Rational thinking is difficult. We all have our desires and we long for them. But there are cases that our desires and wishes may not be granted because of some reason. But it is important that despite of these unfulfilled desires and wishes, we do not fall into the temptation of committing a sin in the process. Sin knocks at every opportunity ready to pounce us on our weakest state. To counter this, God has given us our minds to think and to ask for His wisdom. It provides us a complete control of ourselves to keep us at bay from the temptation of sin.

Today, let us ask God to clear our minds so that we may be able to think soundly in our lives.

Our actions reflect who we are as a person.
