Love and Struggle

“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

Matthew 5:44

Last night, I have talked to a guy in our neighborhood about their relationship with the girl on the other side of the town. His problem is about the girl’s attitude. When I asked if he had considered leaving her, he said: “not a chance, I still love her no matter what.”

Such thoughts have got us into thinking why people still love despite becoming a sacrificial lamb. His story is not only the one I have known, there are others as well from prodigal children to a cheating partner. But what amazes me more is the fact that the people facing those struggles never gave up loving despite everything.

But the most amazing of all these stories is the story of God, who, despite of our sinfulness still created a way to save us from our sins. He paid the heavy price in the process to show us that God wanted to save us from our sins and to give us the gift of eternal life. He sent His only son to redeem us from our sins. Despite of our sins and of our weakness God still made a way to save us because of His unending love towards us.

As we look into this season of love, let us remember that love is not just about happiness but also our willingness to sacrifice whether we are loved back or not.

Love knows no boundaries.
