Looking Back

Barasoain Weekly Reflection for 27 December 2015 – 2 January 2016

2 Corinthians 5:17

Moments from now we are going to welcome the new year with celebrations. Another year has passed and we look forward to another year with hope and great joy.

As the new year approaches, some of us have this idea of looking back at the important events in the year. Television programs such as news and some blogs will post a year-end article or review that highlights the important milestones and events that occurred in the past year.

There have been ups and downs in the events of this year. Of course, no year is perfect. But every event that we have encountered in the past year can give us an insight and a lesson that we can use for ourselves. These lessons are valuable. Yet more important than these lessons are the memories that brought to us the lesson in the first place. They are precious and are priceless.

As we celebrate the upcoming year, let us ask the Lord to guide us in the upcoming year and the events and thank us for the graces that He has given us this year 2015. Think about the important memories both the good and the bad and see for ourselves why 2015 has become something extraordinary for us.

Learn from the past to be ready to face the future.
